Synergetic Association
Implementing an overall system function with synergetically instead of individually controlled subsystems facilitates a minimization of decoupling energy storages and allows for temporary clamping of switching stages resulting in major loss savings. PES has derived new synergetic modulation schemes for voltage/current DC-link EV chargers and could demonstrate a 60+ % reduction of the switching and 80+ % reduction of the conduction losses of the front-end PFC rectifier stage at largely unchanged loading of the DC/DC output stage. Furthermore, a novel synergetic 4D-modulation concept, which cyclically changes the number and modulation index of series/parallel interleaved converter cells, was shown to enable ultra-compact/efficient data centre power supply modules. Moreover, utilizing synergetic supply voltage pre-control and load-side impedance matching a 25 kW 10 kV SiC 7 kV/400 V DC-transformer and a 50 kW wireless EV charging system have been experimentally verified to reach world-record DC/DC efficiencies of 99% and 96%, respectively.
